This month we will discuss Davesh Soneji’s ‘Producing Dance in Colonial Tanjore’ of Unfinished Gestures: Devadasis, Memory, and Modernity in South India, (University of Chicago Press) pp 27-69.

This monthly reading group series, in conjunction with the international research network, Performance Philosophy, will be hosted by 2020 CPR Artist-in-Residence Parijat Desai and CPR’s Executive Director, Dr. Charlotte Farrell.

In Performance Philosophy Reading Group we read exhilarating and thought-provoking texts as a springboard into generative discussion and thought-experimentation, engaging with texts in whatever way seems most productive.
