OPEN STAGE
OPEN STAGE captures two annual programs of new, fully-produced work in a shared program – Fall Movement and Spring Movement.
Works for Fall Movement are solicited through a competitive open call for new work in dance, performance, and time-based art, and the program is curated by an independent panel of artists. CPR encourages applicants to submit work with experimental approaches to content, form, and aesthetic, and values risk-taking and the unexpected. Applications for Fall Movement typically open in late spring.
The program for Spring Movement is organized by a guest curator or curatorial collective, highlighting curatorial practice as artistic practice. Curators are selected by invitation.
Public programs at CPR are supported by Dance/NYC’s New York City Dance Rehearsal Space Subsidy Program made possible by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, The Harkness Foundation for Dance, Howard Gilman Foundation, Mertz Gilmore Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Legislature, and public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.
